PsychCentral is a well known and established allied health and NDIS service provider with multiple locations in South Western and Western Sydney. We have an exciting opportunity for you to join PsychCentral as a Behaviour Support Practitioner where you will take part in PsychCentral’s Behaviour Support Practitioner Internship Program commencing in early 2023. PsychCentral will enable you to form strong working relationships with your participants and celebrate their strengths and achievements along their journey.
What the role involves
You will receive intensive training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and be supported to advance your development as a Behaviour Support Practitioner under the NDIS PBS Capability Framework. You will develop proficiency in the development of PBS plans that focus on increasing a person’s quality of life, including improving their skills and enhancing their independence. You will support the participant and their team implement the plans with training and regular follow up and review. You will receive weekly supervision with our experienced and dedicated staff who possess many years of diverse clinical experience. You will have regular opportunities to connect with these individuals in one on one and group training sessions and have the ability to email or pick up the phone to seek their advice on complex cases.
You will work closely with allied health practitioners, support workers and family members to achieve the best possible outcomes for your participants. You will assess and observe participants behaviours of concern and work towards increasing skills, improving emotion regulation and introducing replacement behaviours to reduce reliance on behaviours of concern and reduce the use of restrictive practices.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Counselling, Board-Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBA), Teaching, Social Work, Social Sciences, Criminology, Health Science, Allied Health or Nursing
- NDIS Registration as a Behaviour Practitioner (or the ability to become registered)
- Experience working with individuals with Autism, Intellectual Disability, and other complex diagnoses (desirable)
- A car and licence
- A National Police Clearance, Working With Children/Working with Vulnerable People Check & NDIS Worker Screening Clearance or able to get one for a client facing role (or willingness to obtain one before commencement)
